As you prepare to launch within the next few weeks, make sure you’ve got everything you need to hit the road safely. And while no one wants to be a downer during the most magical part of the camping year, it always pays to think ahead!

Fall RV Camping Trips: 5 Tips Before You Go

Pack up the marshmallows and bag up those blankets, because you’re about to hit the road!

Let’s get your RV ready to rumble with these five easy tips.

1. Do some RV maintenance

A visual inspection is an incredibly important part of your ‘pre-flight checklist.’ After all, you wouldn’t want to hit the road with a flat tire!

Look for:

  • Cracks and gaps. Is there anything that needs sealing?
  • Tire problems. Do you see any dry rot or crumbling?
  • Major fluids. Is everything topped off and ready to go?

2. Check the RV furnace

It’s going to get cold out there — so make sure your heater can warm things up!

Check for crushed ducting or obstructed vents, and try running the machine at least once. Are you noticing anything problematic?

3. Fill up the antifreeze

For the unfamiliar, RV antifreeze is a special mixture that prevents cold temperatures from bursting your pipes.

Check your current levels and adjust accordingly. If you’re not sure how to do this, professional help may be warranted.

4. Test the battery

Weather fluctuations can sometimes drain your battery after months of sitting around.

Check electrolyte levels, distilled water, and charge as needed. Remember: if you’re not comfortable on your own, don’t risk it. You can always bring your RV to professionals for help!

5. Have your RV inspected

It never hurts to get a second opinion on your RV — especially when your family’s health is on the line. The pros at RV Masters can inspect your RV completely long before you hit the road, giving you a clean bill of health before committing to a trip.
